So I can’t really describe what is happening in this video, or why I’ve watched it four times. It’s by a Norwegian group called Ylvis, which consists of two brothers who have a talk show. Just watch it.
“No Mom, it’s cool, I’m just gonna chew on your ear.”
As the semester winds to a close, we are now starting to talk about our final project for my “Reinventing the News” class. Pretty much, we have to write an extended blog post about something exciting in the world of digital media, using text and pictures or video. I’ve been tossing the idea around in my head and I think I have an idea.
I definitely wanted to do something local because a) it’s easier and b) I like to write about things in my community. So taking that thought and going even more specific, I decided to write about something happening at Northeastern.
Student Government Association elections for president are coming up. Ryan Fox, the incumbent, is campaigning against Amanda Sabia, the current Vice President for Academic Affairs. Digital media is playing a role in this campaign like never before (there is even a whole debate about it). I know that Ryan, during his year as president, has used both Twitter and Facebook as tools to get feedback from students with a good amount of success. I want to analyze how digital media is changing politics on campus and how it will continue to change in the coming year.
I plan to talk with both Sabia and Fox, as well as people working on their campaign. I think I will also be able to get a lot of student voices; older students who have seen the changes as well as younger students and what they think about it.
If anyone has an idea of how I can make this better or a tip of something I should focus on, let me know!
