Stop Telling Women

anything, really, but stop telling women to smile.

Tatyana Fazlalizadeh is an artist that started a project called Stop Telling Women To Smile, a street art project that addresses gender based street harassment. These photos are from the exhibit opening at Fresthetic in Brooklyn on April 12. All photos by Tatyana Fazlalizadeh.

Check here for how people added to these wheat pastes. They are interesting. These were put up in Bed-Stuy on Thompkins and Halsey (near me!).

Women do not owe men anything. We do not owe you a smile, a “hello,” a “good morning.” My purpose of being out on the street is to go to work, to the grocery store, to wherever, not to entertain and please you. My face is my face and has nothing to do with you.
